During the autumn, new rules were introduced for foreign nationals living in the Bahamas, which means, among other things, that everyone with foreign citizenship must have a passport issued in their home country. The new rules were criticized by, among others, Amnesty International, which warned that minors with foreign parents will be adversely affected. Above all, this applies to people with roots in Haiti who have difficulties in obtaining a passport. Amnesty also reported arbitrary arrests of immigrants targeting mainly Haitians.
